Just yesterday, we heard that A24 has given the greenlight to writer/director Ti West’s MaXXXine, a sequel to West’s films X and Pearl. Now the company has sent out a casting call, looking for fans to apply to be an extra in the new movie! You can find all the information on the A24 website, but here’s how to apply:
Reenact your version of the final standoff between Pearl and Maxine in X (aka Mia Goth vs Mia Goth) — you play both roles! Submit your audition on TikTok, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #XCastingCall by September 28th, 2022 at 11:59pm ET
The script for the portion of the standoff they want to see fans reenact can be found at the website.
Set in 1979, X was released earlier this year, and now you can watch it at THIS LINK. The prequel Pearl is set in 1918 and will be reaching theatres this Friday, September 16th. (You can read our JimmyO’s 9/10 review at THIS LINK.) In MaXXXine, Mia Goth will be reprising the role of X survivor Maxine Minx, a burlesque performer and adult film actress with the goal of being a star. The film will follow
Maxine (Goth), after the events of X, as the sole survivor who continues her journey towards fame, setting out to make it as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.
MaXXXine is being produced by A24, Ti West, Jacob Jaffke, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss. Mia Goth serves as executive producer. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that West had this to say about MaXXXine: “What I can tell you is that we’re going to catch up with Maxine. And we’re going to find out what she’s up to. The way that X is a movie that is informed by and affected by independent exploitation auteur Americana and 1970s cinema, and Pearl is perhaps affected by the Golden Age of Hollywood and the glitz and glamor of cinema, MaXXXine will be more about within the industry itself and the boom of VHS.”
I was very happy to hear that X and Pearl are going to be followed by another entry in this series, and it’s cool that A24 is giving fans a chance to appear in MaXXXine.
